Real techniques brushes review 💕💕

Not so long ago, I only ever used a very basic sponge to apply my foundation, and a cheap brush to apply powder/blush/bronzer.

It wasn’t until I entered the world of contouring that I started to purchase different types of brushes for each individual step. The difference I have found is massive!

I first purchased the Real Techniques Core kit. Alongside a few different contour pallets. I’ve found they have worked best with the Makeup Revolution Cover and conceal cream contour pallets.

The brushes are lovely though, soft and never loose bristles. Easy to clean and easy to apply makeup. I have my own ways of doing things so I know that I’m not using the brushes for the right things but they work well for me!

Also the Real techniques Expert Face brush is by far the best brush I have ever used. I use it too apply my foundation (currently using Estée Lauder double wear). It goes on perfectly and blends beautifully.

The only brush from Real Techniques that I haven’t liked is the sculpting brush. For me I personally think it’s too hard to sculpt. It’s also quite chunky so doesn’t work well with some of my smaller powder contour kits (current favourite is Seventeen or collection). So I’m disappointed I bought that. Because it doesn’t get used at all.

Overall I absolutely love them. I still have a few more that I want from the original range. And I have a few of the bold metals brushes and also the fibre collection on my Christmas list!  The bold metals are more expensive, but they look amazing and I’ve heard great things about them!

So if you are looking for inexpensive starter brushes to build your collection these are the ones I would suggest!

Hope everyone is well, sorry I haven’t been around for a while. Summer holidays were manic and it’s just finding the time to get back into the swing of things!

Thanks for reading. Leave a comment down below if you use any of the Real Techniques range and what you think of them!

Monthly favourites : August Edition

Wow these summer holidays have been LONG. Anyone else excited for the kids to be back at school next week?

I really feel like I haven’t been able to do many blogs at all during the holidays, so massive apologies but I just haven’t really had the time at all.
So, monthly favourites!
Glossy Box

The August Glossy box was pretty awesome. 4 Full size products instead of the usual 1 full size. All great products and all that I’ve been using daily since it came!

Personal favourite is the toner by NaoBay. Having used a few items from this company before I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. I absolutely love the packaging too. I would say it’s been one of the best toners I’ve tried and I’m SUPER happy it was a full size instead of a sample!

Real techniques expert face brush

Honestly don’t know what I ever did before this brush? I use it for everything! It’s so amazing, my makeup goes on beautifully and blends really well. I would recommend this brush to everyone!

My bedroom purchases

My bedroom is no where near finished, but it’s at the point where it looks comfortable enough to wait a little while to do anything else (after Christmas preferably when I actually have money 😂).

The mandala wall hangings were sent from India but purchased on eBay for 13.99 each which is a huge bargain considering places like urban outfitters sell them for around £40.

Also the individual drapes/voile on my 4 poster bed were only £2 each, which I think transformed the whole room on its own.
Down the rabbit hole

I started this book a few weeks ago, I don’t have much time to read at the moment but I haven’t been able to put it down! Lots of secrets being exposed about Hugh Hefner, very interesting read! I picked my copy up from Amazon on pre order for around £13.
Kate Moss Long lasting Nude lipstick range

Thanks to a dear friend I managed to complete my collection of the nude range. And I absolutely LOVE them all. They last well, are moisturising and smell lovely! Best of all they are cheap!!

I will be doing a blog soon swatching all of them for you. So keep an eye out!

Lush Cosmetics – The Comforter Shower Cream

If you don’t like sweet smells then this won’t be for you. But my oh my does this smell good enough to eat! Leaves me smelling like candy for hours. I absolutely love it!!

I’ve been waiting for it to become a sinks for a while as it was an Oxford street exclusive. The comforter bubble bar is one of my favourite products by them so I knew I would love this.

So that’s my monthly favourites! Thanks so much for reading. Let me know if you have tried any of the above products and what you thought in the comments down below.

Mini Boots Haul 💕💕💕

Still on the hunt for the Kate Moss Nude collection lipsticks! But on the way picked up a few bits from boots today.

I did manage to actually get another 2 of the shades that I needed. I got shades 45 and 48. Also picked up one from her other range in shade 03.

Will swatch these within the next few days! I think I only have one shade left to find now!

I’ve been wanting to try a BB balm or cream for a while now, and whilst I was looking at the seventeen collection for yet another different contour kit to try I came across this balm.

My skin is terrible at the minute, so the fact that it said it will improve my skin within 4 weeks made me want to try it!

My friend uses the contour kit, and looks fabulous so I wanted to give that a go myself and see what it’s like.

I haven’t wore powder for a very long time. I’ve been using Soap and Glorys Solar powder as an all over face powder for a while as its light enough to give the effect I wanted.

However I’m one for trying new things all the time. So I grabbed this one as I’ve seen a fair few blogs recommending it.

Yay!! I’m so excited that I eventually found this product. I loved their Morrocon oil shampoo and conditioner and their coconut milk. But I seen Zoella blog about this a while ago and I’ve only just managed to pick it up in boots today!

These are going in my toiletries section of my Xmas list though. So you will have to wait a while for my review 😂😂

You will see in the top picture that I grabbed some insence, that was from a little stall as I ran out of nag champa at the weekend, and this was all they had. But they smell beautiful. And for £1 per pack you can’t really go wrong!

So, still on the hunt for the last shade of the nude collection. Looks like it might have to be an online purchase. But I’m super happy that I managed to get the rest today.

Thanks so much for reading. If you have tried any of these products, let me know what you think of them in the comments!

My weekly purchases 💕💕

Safe to say that I’m well and truly spent up this month! Have went a little crazy this week. So that’s me done now till next month.

I thought I would do a little post to show you what I got!

Primark and Lush

Recently watched a Zoella video where she had purchased some of the 3 wick candles in a tin from Primark and she said they smelt amazing! So I went to have a peek and got a couple.

Little bit gutted they didn’t do the Peony and white tea in a bigger size as that smells gorgeous but still happy with pineapple and ginger, and also the red berry and jasmine.

The large 3 wicks were £3.50 each and the square one was £2.

Also picked up this cute little t shirt. I say little, this is a size 6 because they all seemed enormous and I wanted one to tuck into my high waisted black jeans. I’m usually a 12 in a top! It was £3 in the sale.

And of course I couldn’t walk past Lush without popping in. But I was trying to contain myself as they have already had quite a lot of money from me this month!

I got the marshmallow bath melt and the Big Blue. Both smell divine!

Couple of makeup purchases from very that arrived this week. I’m still waiting on the NYX colour correction kit but that doesn’t seem to have arrived yet!

Kate Moss Rimmel  lasting finish in shade 101

This is a super light pink, it smells gorgeous and it’s a really pretty colour.

Barry M – Make me blush

I wanted to try some cream blushes as I’ve asked for some cream blush palettes for Xmas from Makeup revolution. So to tide me over till then I bought this and so far it’s great! Really pretty bright pink but once blended leaves a lovely glow.

Maybelline Baby Skin – Instant fatigue blur

I’ve been using the green tube (pour eraser) which I’ve absolutely loved but just finished it recently. So I wanted to try this one out. It’s a total different texture so I’m finding it to be a bit strange. But I’m willing to persevere with it!

Maybelline Great Lash

Haven’t used this yet, but I’ve heard mixed reviews. So thought I would check it out myself because I’m a huge fan of Maybelline products.

Loreal Perfect match concealer

I’ve been using this as a highlighter for under my eyes and it’s absolutely perfect. Great coverage and really helps brighten my face. Super easy to apply too.

MAC – Disney limited edition Malificent sculpting powder

I have to admit I bought this just because I love Malificent 😑 however it was a total steal at £5.50 as I won it on eBay! Yay! And furthermore I really love it. I’ve been using it as my contour powder and it’s great for my jaw line/cheekbones.

Estée Lauder – double wear – fresco

I’ve been putting this off for a while even though I really really wanted it. I’ve just never spent this much on a foundation before. As I’ve said in previous posts, I’m a huge lover of drugstore brands and I’ve really never spent more that £12 on a foundation.

But this was totally worth it. The coverage alone has convinced me that this purchase was the best idea I’ve had in a long time.

But it goes on lovely, doesn’t feel heavy or feel like I’m wearing 10 layers of makeup. I really have fallen in love with it.

So as you will see, I won’t be buying anything else for a while (I hope) as this lot and my superdrug haul was more than I’d wanted to spend this month!

But there are some great products here! Let me know if you have tried any of them and what you thought 💕💕💕

Thanks for reading.

Selfie Saturday : My makeup

Morning lovelies!

I thought I would give you a quick run through of what makeup I’m wearing today. After purchasing a few bits this week, I’ve been gradually adding them and changing things amongst my normal routine.

I also dyed my hair this week! I’m a little bit sad, it didn’t take long to get blonde but it has damaged my hair quite badly. I only wanted to go blonde so that I could go a gun mental grey. Who knew going grey was such hard work? Even the hairdressers tried but the toner was washing out within a week. Too much money and still didn’t get the outcome that I wanted. So I’ve gone a nice brown instead! This is what I used :

So, my makeup today consists of the following:

Maybelline Baby skin – Instant fatigue Blur

I’m not sure if I like this yet, I’ve been using the green tube (instant pour eraser) for a few months now and it’s a totally different texture. However my makeup does go on well over it, so I’m going to persevere. I apply this to my full face as a primer.

Estée Lauder – Double wear – Fresco

I bit the bullet and purchased it this week. So many people have said such great things about the coverage that I just couldn’t contain myself any longer. I’m a big advocate in drugstore makeup. I’ve been using Maybelline better skin for a while now and I love that. But the coverage I’ve got from double wear is really quite amazing. The price makes my eyes water though. But from what I’ve used so far, I’m happy to pay it!

Maxfactor – Pan stik – Noveau Beige

I use this as a concealer not foundation. So I apply it anywhere I need it. Usually under my eyes and then blemishes.

Makeup Revolution contour pallets – light, medium/dark

I absolutely love these. They are only £6 per pallet in superdrug. I use the 2 lightest shades for highlighting (see previous review post to see how I highlight and contour my face) and then the 3 darkest shades for contour.

Soap and Glory – Solar Powder

I’m touching pan with this now so need to replace it. I don’t use it as a bronzer really, more like my all over face powder before I apply any contour powder!

MAC – Limited edition Disney’s Malificent – Sculpting Powder

Can’t even explain how excited I am to own this product. They are selling for quite a lot on Ebay with them being no longer available. However, I won this in a bidding for £5.50 😱 that was the starting bid so no one else must have searched for it!

It came in the post yesterday, I’ve been using it to sculpt my cheekbones and basically anywhere where I contour. LOVE it.

Barry M – Make me blush cream

Also bought this week (keep an eye out for my weekly purchases blog later)

I’ve asked Sean for the Makeup revolution cream blush pallets for Xmas. So in the meantime wanted to try a few others. I love this one, goes on super easy and it’s a really pretty pink colour. Blends easy with my brushes too.

Collection work the colour – eyebrow kit

I use the black mostly, but this is still by far the best eyebrow kit I’ve used. And it’s a steal at 2.99!

Maybelline – The Rocket Mascara

Still my absolute favourite although I have bought a different one to try this week. But I’m pretty sure this will be my staple mascara forever!

Pop Beauty – Sooty black eyeliner

No point in taking a photo as its nearly finished which shows how much I’ve loved this product. It was in my first glossy box. And I absolutely adore it.

Kate Moss Rimmel – Nude collection shade 40

Everything I could ever want from a nude lipstick!

The finished look

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you wear any of these products and what you think!

Santa baby? Christmas wish list ❤️❤️

Yes, I know it’s early. But we are super early shoppers in this house! We started in February this year, which I think is even record setting for me!

But we do like to make a big deal at Christmas time, I love spoiling my children and family. But what I enjoy most is being all together in the Christmas holidays.

I’m not going to lie. I’m awesome at buying gifts. Sean however, not so much. But he is getting better! He knows to stay away from clothing/accessories unless I specifically point them out. And I know he makes his own little list throughout the year of things I’ve mentioned. Last Christmas he got me some great things! But I do always like to make a list, so that he can pick a few things from it.

Dear Santa (Sean)

  • Books:

The art of zen colouring books. Yes please!! You can pick these up everywhere at the minute, ranging from around £3/£10 depending on size. I love anything arty, but because it’s all to do with relaxing your mind, it makes me want them even more!

All the bright places by Jennifer Niven

One of my favourite you tube bloggers recently had this book on her June favourites (Zoella). I love reading and will read just about anything aslong as it has good reviews! When Zoella mentioned it, it was immediately placed on my list as it sounds like a book that I would really enjoy.

5 year Q&A Journal

Another one recommended by Zoella. It sounded really fun so would really like to try it. 365 questions for you too answer, 1 per day, then revisit every year for 5 years so that you can see how your answers have changed over time.

  • Candles

The bath and body works candles and the paddy wax candle will be a bit more expensive than I usually pay because they will be from America! But they are supposed to smell absolutely amazing!

 Bow ties and bourbon

Istanbul – Sparkling Amber

Soybean Massage Candle

Rosemary and thyme

  • Perfume

  • Miscellaneous

I love anything to do with Alice in wonderland. Especially the original illustrations. I thought this would look really cute on my dressing table with perfume or bits of makeup on. Failing that, it can always go in the kitchen!

Some new mugs for my kitchen! Been long over due. There are only 4 shown here but I think there are 8 in total. I love them. Especially the Mad hatter one as he’s my favourite character.

The angels sang when I seen this bag. My friend bought it not so long ago from Kurt Geiger and I just fell in love with it. I have been searching for the longest time for the perfect tan bag, and this is it! I love it so much.

Acrylic Makeup Storage. I desperately need some of the larger draws for my palettes. I don’t really have a lot of room on my dressing table. So I’m hoping once the bedroom has been decorated that Sean will put some shelves up above it to give me some more storage space!

  • Makeup

NYX soft matte lip cream in the shades :

Abu Dhabi

Makeup revolution bronze highlighter palette

Makeup revolution iconic blush, bronze and lighten palette

Makeup revolution ultra blush palette  –  Golden sugar

Makeup revolution – All about cream blush palette

Makeup Revolution ultra blush palette – All about pink

Makeup Revolution ultra blush palette – Hot spice

Estée Lauder double wear foundation – Fresco

  • Skin care

Body shop – Drops of youth bouncy sleeping mask

Pixi skin treats – Glow tonic with aloe Vera and ginseng

So that’s my list. Some things may change and I may update it as and when! There were items of makeup I was desperate to try, but then I’ve recently seen some bad reviews so I decided against them!

Hopefully this gives Sean a little bit of help! Please let me know if you have tried any of the products I’ve listed and what you thought of them in the comments!

Thanks for reading lovelies

Contouring with Makeup Revolution Palettes

Today I wanted to try out my new contour palettes from Makeup Revolution that I purchased last week.

I had a bit of a try with some of the shades last week and was super happy with the outcome. So I wanted to start to put them into my daily routine.

They are cream contour kits, I’ve only ever used powder before, alongside light concealers and darker foundations. So I don’t have a particular technique.

I am a super messy contourer, due to always being in a rush with the kids. But it looks totally fine once blended out so apologies if anyone thinks I look ridiculous 😂😂

What I did:

I applied my normal base of Maybelline Baby Skin.

Then I took a flat brush for highlighting. Using the first and lightest shade from the light contour palette.

I applied it under my eyes, tops of cheek bones, chin, edges of my mouth, Cupid’s bow, bridge of my nose, forehead and a small amount of my lower jaw line. These are all the areas I like to highlight on my face.

Then I took my contour brush and applied the shades that are last on the top line and second last on the bottom line from the dark palette and applied them under my cheekbones, and across the top of my forehead (I usually blend upwards when doing so).

Then I applied the darkest shade from the dark palette on the edges and end of my nose, Cupid’s bow and under my bottom lip in the crease of my chin.

I then blended the rough edges using a stippling brush. To make it less harsh.

Then onto my normal routine, I applied a small amount of Maybelline Better Skin foundation and Maxfaxtor luminizer foundation (mixed together). Then took my expert face brush and applied the smallest amount and gently blended it all in.

I then took my normal Sleek mini contour powder kit. Used a small amount on my contour areas just to make them pop a bit more.

For blush I used a small amount of Soap and glory : love at first blush.

Eyes I used Pop beauty’s sooty black eye liner and Maybelline’s, The Rocket mascara. (Remember I don’t wear eye shadow)

Brows I used my Collection Work the colour eyebrow kit, using the shade black.

And finally for my lips I used WetnWild Beauty Benefits Duel Effects lip liner alongside Mac’s Satin Faux lipstick.

I really love these Palettes. They were just under £10 each, which I think is a bargain! The packaging and presentation is lovely and they look expensive.

I obviously cannot compare them to any other cream contour kits because I haven’t tried any as of yet!

I’m super excited to try their cream blush range as well as many other products they have to offer.

Thanks so much for reading! Let me know if you have tried these yet 💕💕💕💕

My Weekly Purchases 💕💕💕

Here are a few things I purchased this week. These are all new products that I haven’t tried before! So will be reviewing them soon.

Makeup Revolution –

Ultra cover and concealer palette in light and also in medium to dark. They were £8.99 each which I thought was super cheap for all the shades you get.

Sleek Makeup – Eye and Cheek Palette in shade dancing til dusk

I already own the sleek highlight palette and the mini contour palette. And I love them both! The highlighting kit I would say is more for nights out perhaps as its quite shimmery, and I expect the same from this palette. This was £6 from eBay.

Real techniques – Expert Face brush

I’ve heard only good things about these brushes. So I had to buy some to try. I’ve been using this for a few days now and I’ve noticed a massive difference in how my makeup looks when applied with it.

Real techniques – Core Collection

These arrived in the post yesterday so I haven’t tried them yet, but as above, people have raved about the whole collection and I can see me loving these and wanting to own every brush they make!

See yesterday’s blog for information about these beauties that arrived yesterday. I’ve only used on of these previous. So I’m excited to try them all. I absolutely love Lush and as I’ve mentioned previous it’s starting to become a bit of an obsession!
So that’s this weeks buys! Let me know in the comments if you have used any of these and what you think of them.

Thanks for reading lovelies!
