15 ways to use Vaseline πŸ’•πŸ’•

I always have a pot of Vaseline in my drawer, have done since my early teens and over the years I’ve discovered some weird and wonderful things you can use it for! So here’s a quick list:

1. Customise your cosmetics

Add Vaseline to any lose pigments from your eyes shadows, blush etc and mix them together to create a cream shadows and blush. You can also do this to make tinted lip balms.

2. Use it as a clear Mascara

On makeup free days or natural makeup days you can trade in your mascara for Vaseline by smoothing it over your lashes for a glossy and thicker look. It’s also a great eye lash conditioner!

3. Polish your shoes!

Bit of a weird one but my grandma once told me to use it for polishing my tan boots. This was quite recently and it gives them a great shine!

4. Get the perfect tan

Apply it to dry areas like elbows and knees before tanning as it acts as a barrier so that the tan won’t cling/go streaky in those places.

5. Gentle eye makeup remover

We all know how expensive makeup remover can be, but you can use Vaseline on the tip of a cotton bud to gently remove eye liner, mascara and I’ve even found when I used to use false lashes that it would help with removing the excess glue.

6. Soothe dry skin

Apply Vaseline to dry skin or cracked heels on your feet and then pop a pair of socks on. You can also do the same for hands and wear some gloves overnight. Really helps hydrate your skin.

7. Mess free manicure

Apply to your cuticles before painting your nails to keep the colour off your skin.

8. Remove makeup stains from clothing

With a damp cloth, Vaseline can be used to help lift makeup stains from your clothing, pillow cases and bedding.

9. Instant Highlighter

Just use a small amount on the high points of your face for a natural dewy highlight. You can also use it on your shins to make your legs glow.

10. Smooth that baby hair!

You can smooth down your baby hairs or frizz by using small amounts of Vaseline in replace of hair product.

11. Prep skin for fragrance

Moisturised skin holds fragrance for longer, apply Vaseline before you spray.

12. DIY lip scrub

Add some sugar to your Vaseline to make your own DIY lip scrub.

13. DIY shower/bath sea salt scrub

Add Sea salt to your Vaseline to make your own DIY body scrub with moisturising benefits.

14. Take those brows

Add a very small amount of Vaseline to your eyebrow brush to help shape your brows perfectly.

15. Help stubborn earrings slide in

If you’re like me and don’t wear earrings too often, the holes can sometimes be difficult when trying to put earrings in. Add a small amount of Vaseline to your ear lobe and over the earring to help it slide in with no problems.

Let me know down below if you have any Vaseline tips!

Toy review Tuesday – Disney Animator DollsΒ

We started collecting these at Christmas and we would absolutely love Penelope to own the entire collection. She currently has Ana, Pocohontus, jasmine and tinker bell. She adores them but they also look lovely on her shelf.

The dolls seem really well made but like with everything their hair can get messy after a while so we have found ourselves tying them in pony tails to try and keep them in good condition.

The only problem we have had is with tinker bell. Penelope only had her a week and her head fell off. We hadn’t kept any of the original packaging or receipt so didn’t think we would be able to take her back although we have not tried. When looking on Disney store reviews it seems to be a common problem but only with the Tinker bell doll. The rest have been absolutely fine with great reviews.

That certainly hasn’t put us off buying more, we already have a few on Penelope’s Christmas list and at Β£20 each we think they are an excellent price.

There are more to the collection that above, you can get the frozen characters also. Some of them also come in sets with extra clothes/props (obviously they are more expensive) and they also come in miniature sets too.

So if your children love Disney I would definitely recommend these toys! Just not tinker bell which is a shame but I wouldn’t want you to waste your money for it to break!

Monthly Favourites (June Edition)Β

June has been a great month for favourite products! I had too many so cut my list down and will perhaps include the rest in next months post.

So here we go..

Sleek Matte Me liquid lipstick in shade Birthday Suit πŸ’•

Good lord I love this lipstick. Everything about it from the shade (which is totally perfect), the consistency and how long it lasts! It literally lasts all day, I have to take it off in the evening and I’ve never had to do that with a liquid lipstick before. It reminds me a lot of the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks, but dare I say I love these more? And at around Β£7 they are a fraction of the price. They certainly stay on longer than ABH and the mixture isn’t as watery which I much prefer as I find myself having to blot the ABH dry if I’m in a hurry. LOVE LOVE LOVE this product.

Sleek highlighting palette in shade Precious MetalsπŸ’•πŸ’•

I’m really quite obsessed with Sleek at the moment. I find myself browsing Ebay almost constantly for different products. I stumbled across this when looking for contouring Palettes. I’ve been using it a few weeks now as part of my everyday makeup routine. It highlights my face really well, especially good for under eyes and tops of cheekbones. It’s 3 cream sections and one powder for Cupid’s bow, although I don’t tend to use that part. It has quite a glittering shimmer to it. Sean said I sparkle like the Vanpires in Twilight πŸ˜‚

Collection work the colour eyebrow kitπŸ’•πŸ’•

Ive spoken on a previous blog about how much I adore this product. I bought it in the airport for Β£2.99 as was in a rush. It’s one of the best eyebrow kits I’ve ever used. Comes with 3 colours black, medium brown and blonde. A double ended application brush and a clear mascara for setting. I really recommend this product. I love it so much that I might not ever change it 😱

NYX matte finish setting sprayπŸ’•πŸ’•

I will literally buy anything NYX related because I love the brand so much. More than likely my favourite makeup brand EVER. So when I seen this I had to buy it to try. And as always it’s perfect. Gives my face a matte look after makeup application, but also firmly sets my makeup in place for at least 12 hours! Which is more than enough for me to rate this product Excellent!

Lush bubblegum lip scrubπŸ’•πŸ’•

YES!! Smells and tastes delicious! (That’s right it’s totally edible) I apply this in the evening before bed and in the morning before my makeup. Takes the dead/dry skin straight off my lips leaving them silky soft and smooth and therefore my lippy goes on perfect! Also you only need to use the smallest amount so even though the tub is Β£5.95 it will last you absolutely ages.

Monuspa rosewood reviving mistπŸ’•πŸ’•

This was a product I got in last months Glossy box. I was rather disappointed in that box, but this was the one product I seem to have fallen in love with. I use it first thing in the morning before applying my makeup to freshen my face up and it smells wonderful! It also says on the bottle that you can use it to set makeup also but I’m yet to try spraying it after makeup application because obviously Ive been using the NYX product.

Argan OilπŸ’•πŸ’•

I bought this from Home Bargains for less than Β£2 and it really has helped with my hair. My hair is pretty dry now from all the bleaching not to mention the split ends. And this is slowly but surely starting to make a difference to the overall condition/feel of my hair. I apply this to towel dried hair but in very small amounts otherwise it will make your hair greasy. If I know I’m not going out the next day, I literally smother my hair in it and just let it sit.

So that’s this months favourites! Have you tried any of these products? What do you think of them. Let me know down below.

Thanks so much for reading. πŸ’•πŸ’•

Mac lip liner dupes (NYX edition)Β

Just a mini blog tonight because I’m exhausted after having lots of fun with the kids today in the sun!

So basically I love lip liners. I love how they can change the shape of your mouth instantly without any effort. I really love all of the Mac range but like I said in my lipstick dupe post, I just can’t afford to buy them all the time.

So as time as gone by, I’ve tried lots of different cheaper brands to see if I can find some similar colours. Now obviously I only wear certain shades of lippy, so can only comment on the ones I’ve tried but in almost certain there will be a dupe for every shade they stock.

NYX seem to be the favourite so far, which Helps because I adore anything by them. So here’s a few I’ve tried and tested, I wish I had them all to swatch but currently I now only own NYX because I loved them so much.

Mac – Current = NYX – Deep Purple

Mac – Cherry = NYX – Plush Red

Mac – Spice = NYX – Coffee

Mac – Stripdown = NYX – Nude Beige

Mac – Dervish = NYX – Peekaboo Neutral

And my absolute favourite because it’s practically sold out everywhere!

Mac – Whirl = NYX – Mauve

Again I hope this has been helpful and helps you save some money! Please let me know down below if you know any other dupes as I’m always on the lookout!

Thanks again for reading.

Sensory Sunday!Β

Wooden Sensory Blocks

I’m a little bit obsessed with looking for really funky sensory toys for the kids. Amongst making some of our own and buying things other people have recommended, I search the net trying to find the next best thing.
What is slightly irritating is the price ranges. Sensory toys are most certainly not cheap, but sometimes you can find some really great things that are totally worth the money.

Harri attends a nursery specifically for children with Autism. So as you can imagine they have some of the most amazing sensory toys/areas and so we often find ourselves purchasing bits and bobs we have seen him interested in within school. He’s not into toys really so when we don’t find something he seems to enjoy we generally buy them.

On a parents morning we noticed these on one of the tables and I thought they looked great. Not just for Harri but Penelope too.

They were Β£40.80 inclusive of VAT, plus postage. And I know that might seem a tad expensive but the kids really do love them.

You get 16 natural hardwood blocks with liquid, beads, glitter and sand centres all with different colours. They are great for sensory stimulus. You can shake, stack, build and hold them up to the light. And are ideal for shape recognition and simple block building tasks.

Harri does play with them when he’s not fixated on his cars/books etc. But Penelope absolutely loves them and can play with them for a good hour before moving onto something else.

They are available from the following website

http://www.sensoryplus.co.uk/products/wooden-toys/sensory-blocks-set-of-16/SE826

Thanks so much for reading, I will be trying to make Sensory Sunday blogs every week, hopefully adding some DIY bits along the way.

Mac lipstick dupes (Revlon Edition)Β

I love Mac, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I just can’t afford to fork out that kind of money on a lipstick! So I started trying to find Dupes in other brands that were much cheaper, where I could still get the colour and look I was going for!

So here’s a list of a few different shades that I’ve tried and tested.

Mac – Dark Side = Revlon – Berry Cherry

Mac – Ruby Woo = Revlon – Really Red

Mac – Snob = Revlon – Pink Pout

Mac – Nouveau = Revlon – Stormy Pink

Mac – Vegas Volt = Revlon – Coral Berry

Mac – Ravishing = Revlon – Smoked Peach

Mac – Speed Dial = Revlon – Carnation

Mac – Cyber = Revlon – Va Va Violet

Mac – Angel = Revlon – Primrose

Hope this helps some of you out! And save some pennies while you’re at it. Revlon is one of my favourite Lipstick brands but I really do love Mac as a treat.

Thanks for reading. Let me know down below if you know any good Mac dupes.

My favourite Maxfactor products πŸ’•πŸ’•

Yesterday I was asked by the lovely The Sassy Editor, if I would recommend some Maxfactor products as she had never used them before and I had mentioned that they were one of my favourite drug store brands in my Beauty Blogger award. So I’ve compiled a short list of what I’ve used in the past.

Pan stik

I’ve been using this for years, like I’ve said in previous posts it’s my staple product. I’ve never changed it. It’s the only product that has consistently remained in my makeup bag that hasn’t been replaced by a better product. Because I’m yet to find anything as good. It gives maximum coverage with minimum effort. Although I don’t use this as a cream foundation as such, I use it more as a concealer. But on days when I’m in a rush, this is usually what I put on as my base foundation. It’s great for my bags under my eyes, blemishes etc.  Ive also found it crease proof, and it’s Matt. And we all know how much I love everything Matt!

Skin Luminizer Foundation

This is a product in currently using although it’s nearly out. And as I’ve previously mentioned, every time I finish a foundation I change it to something else to try. However saying that I currently mix this with my Maybelline better skin to give my face more of a light, fresh look. It’s specially designed to reflect warm tones, and also contains a hydrator that over time helps improve your skins condition to give you a more healthy glow. It’s medium coverage which is why I chose to use it alongside another product. But it’s most definitely one I will purchase again.

Face finity all day flawless 3 in 1

I absolutely love this foundation. It’s one of the best I’ve tried so far. I don’t have to use primer as this goes on my skin so beautifully. However I do still use concealer. The coverage is excellent and I do find that I use less concealer. Mostly just for under my eyes or if I have a face demon that particularly huge! It lasts all day, doesn’t smudge or rub off onto clothing. It is exactly what it says on the bottle. Flawless.

Colour X-Pert Eyeliner

Now I don’t use liquid eyeliner anymore, but I did buy this just to try. It’s waterproof, comes in 3 different shades and has a soft tip applicator which helps create a more defined and bold look. I bought this around the same time as some eye shadows from technic, to try out the whole smokey eye look. As you know by now I don’t wear eye shadow. But this liner went on really easy, and I can imagine for someone that loves liquid eyeliner this would be an excellent product!

Masterpiece high definition mascara

One of my favourite mascaras on the market that I’ve tried. Excellent lash separation and gives plenty of volume. It’s waterproof and it’s great for anyone that has sensitive eyes. My eyes are really sensitive so a lot of products make me rub/itch, but not this. It only comes in black which is fine for me as that’s all I use, it basically ticks all the boxes.

False Lash effect mascara

I’ve not long finished this product and I almost contemplated not switching because I loved it so much. It gave my lashes so much volume and did make it look like I was wearing falsies. It’s waterproof, doesn’t smudge and doesn’t irritate my eyes. It’s everything I want from a mascara and more.

So that’s my top products! Hope you find this post useful. Obviously bare in mind what works for one may not work for another, these are just my opinions but I know that all of these products have received high star ratings and good reviews on their website along with several other blogging forums. Give them a try or let me know what you think if you have already tried these!

Thanks for reading lovelies
